Description:

The TTMAC (Terrazzo, Tile and Marble Association of Canada) is non-profit organization that is made up of both Contractor and Suppliers from the 3 different disciplines The TTMAC was founded in 1944. It's mandate was to develop a method of standardizing terrazzo, tile and marble installation techniques, as well as being a technical resource and liaison for architects, specifiers, designers and engineers.

Background:
Currently, the TTMAC conducts testing for the hard surface industry using a unique testing apparatus called the Universal Floor tester (see http://www.ttmac.com/universal-floor-tester.html). This apparatus can conduct testing complying ASTM C-627 and currently is being used for R & D (Research and Development) for possible inclusion for ANSI A118.12. In addition, the TTMAC conducts testing for the hard surface industry using the BOT 3000 Digital Tribometer which measures both static and DCOF (Dynamic Coefficient of Friction) on tile and stone surfaces. This new test apparatus is crucial to determine if the surface in question has adequate slip resistance for both wet and dry areas.

Duties:
To operate and inspect the tests conducted with the Universal Floor tester and the BOT 3000. To record, document and take photos of the testing conducted. Write a report in a timely and professional manner to be forwarded to the client. Be able to manipulate test pads approximately 120 cm x 120 cm wide x 50 mm thick with a manually operated forklift. Capable to work with, support and possibly assist the assembly of test pads ifneeded by third party installer. Willing to maintain a clean and organized testing area as well as storage and eventual disposal of testing materials.

Requirements:
This position requires an individual that is self-motivated and able to work under minimum supervision. Patience and eye for detail is an absolute must as with most positions dealing with testing for customers and R & D. A college or university degree not necessary but experience or education in engineering or sciences would be beneficial.

Working Hours:
Working hours will change depending on work-load and therefore initially will largely be part-time to full-time and eventually becoming permanent full-time. Generally facility hours are from 8:00 to 5:00 PM but flexibility is available for working into evening and possibly weekends.
