STANDARDS OF EXCELLENCE

The Terrazzo, Tile and Marble Association of Canada has been developing standards for the installation of terrazzo, tile, marble, and stone products in Canada, since 1944.  Promoting the use of hardsurface products to specification writers, architects, designers, owners, general contractors, and the building industry, while advocating effective testing and training has enabled the industry to grow through the decades.

The Terrazzo, Tile and Marble Association of Canada has testing facilities at its head office in Toronto, and training facilities in Toronto, and in the Burnaby branch office.   The association uses these facilities to test supplier products against industry specifications and standards. Educating industry professionals with courses like Stoneology, Tileology and Terrazzo allow the industry to broaden the use of hardsurface products.  Practical, effective, strategically developed training programs are presented to installers to improve their project performance and results.

TTMAC Step Program (SPP)

The Step Program has been designed to provide access to small contractors and retailers with some of the benefits that TTMAC members enjoy.  It allows them to gain access to technical information, training and services that TTMAC provides, and at reduced prices.

A Step Program Participant (SPP) is defined as a contractor or retailer that has less than ten employees and less than $250,000 in annual revenue of terrazzo, tile, and marble.

Earn the Right

The Step Program Participant (SPP) has two years to accumulate 50 points to complete the program and earn the right to apply for full membership. The SPP may elect to remain in the Step Program once the two years has been completed. The SPP can participate by attending training seminars, working on committees, attending functions and once a body of work has been developed, with no issues, the SPP has earned the right to full membership.

The SPP must earn 50 points through participation and performance and can earn points based on the following:

• Attend and graduate from training in TTMAC approved courses - 5 points each

• Join and participate on a TTMAC committee - 5 points per year

• Attending a TTMAC social function - 2.5 points

• Attend a TTMAC convention, including all Open House Seminars - 10 points
